Riyadh: The Saudi Standing Committee for Scientific Research and Ifta reissued fatwa against Pokemen Go.
In a statement posted on the portal of the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta, the panel said that the Japanese-made gaming phenomenon involves flagrant violations of the Islamic teachings.
The fatwa said the game promotes polytheism, gambling, atheism and spreads irreligious photos and vice.
The authority described Pokemon as ‘haram,’ in all its form selling, purchasing or generating money from it. The authority also called on Muslims to prevent their children from playing it, reported local Arabic daily Akhbar24.
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) had also issued a statement warning against the digital applications which have GPS features.
