Córdoba Club de Fútbol (Cordoba CF), winners of the Spanish Federation Cup, have arrived in Bahrain to conduct a training Camp.
The Bahrain-backed second-division team will play Al Khalidiyah and Riffa in two friendly matches on Friday and Monday at the Bahrain National Stadium.
Founded in 1954, Córdoba is one of the oldest clubs in Andalusia. The club has played in the First Division (La Liga) for many years.
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed Cordoba, adding that the team’s presence would promote Bahrain and its achievements.
He stressed Bahrain’s standing as a destination for teams and national squads, hailing the support of His Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He hailed the efforts of Cordoba’s president and members to achieved the team’s goals and enhance its standing in the Spanish football arena.
The team which started its training camp yesterday at Bahrain National Stadium, is stepping up preparations for the second part of the Spanish second division league.
The team wll meet officials representing Bahrain Football Association, Riffa and Muharraq and also visit Winners Football Academy and Tekkers Academy. The team will also visit Bahrain National Museum, Bahrain International Circuit and enjoy a karting entertainment day.
The programme also includes visits to City Centre, Bab Al Bahrain, Al Jazair Beach, Al Areen sanctuary and Bahrain Financial Harbour.
Córdoba top the Spanish Second Vision Group 4 after collecting 40 points, leading the runners-up by seven points.
