Doha: Employees working with government departments have been prohibited from playing Pokémon Go during the official working hours.
Some departments have notified their employees not to play the Japanese craze phenomenon game at work, said Arabic newspapers Al-Sharq.
Employees have been told that the game which is fitted with a GPS technology may disclose the nature of their work and key government locations while seeking virtual monsters.
The Qatari Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has already issued a statement cautioning against the dangers of the game citing privacy and public safety as major area of concern.
Other GCC telecommunications regulators have also issued security alert cautioning against the dangers of sharing sensitive geographical locations while playing online games.
