BAHRAIN Football Association announced their agreement with Czech Miroslav Soukup to coach the national team for two seasons.
The contract was signed last night at the association’s headquarters in Riffa in the presence of BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa alongside BFA vice-president Ali Al Buanain and board member’s Arif Abbasi and Hafez Al Dossari.
Shaikh Ali expressed his confidence in Soukup being the man of the moment for the BFA after studying a lot of different CVs for coaches.
He explained that the FBFA held meetings regarding this matter especially with the great importance of the position of first team coach.
Shaikh Ali said the BFA selected the Czech coach because of his excellent portfolio which speaks for itself.
He pointed out that the BFA trusts Soukup in leading the team with his excellent tactics that can help develop the sport in Bahrain.
Soukup, 50, had been a coach for Yemen’s national team for the past two years. He also had stints in Egypt coaching their under-20 national team in 2008 and 2009.
He had also previously led his country’s under-20 national team to the Youth World Cup which was held in Canada in 2007.
Soukup expressed his delight to work with the Bahrain national team saying that the confidence placed in him by the BFA meant he has to double his efforts for the sake of Bahraini football.
