BAHRAIN national under-19 team will take on Venezuela in a Group ‘A’ match of the COTIF International Football Friendly Under-20 Tournament, tonight 8pm (Bahrain time), in Valencia, Spain.
This will be Bahrain’s second match in the tournament, after losing to hosts Spain 3-0 in the opening match of the group, while Venezuela played two matches which they won against Mauritania 2-0 and the US with the same score, to lead the group with six points.
The national team’s participation is part of their preparations for the upcoming Asian Football Under-19 Championship which is set to be held in Bahrain from October 13 to 30.
The national team held their practice yesterday led by national coach Abdulaziz Abdo with assistant Mohammed Al Moqlah, to prepare for their second game in the group against leaders Venezuela.
Abdo concentrated in tactics and techniques in their training session yesterday, while goalkeeper coach Abdulaziz Buhaji trained with the goalkeepers.
Meanwhile, a Qatari player, Akram Afeefi, who plays for the Spanish league side Villarreal club, visited the Bahrain national team practice yesterday, where he met Abdo who previously coached the player in Qatar football league.
The national team manager, Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa, honoured Afeefi during his visit, wishing him all the success in his professional career with Villarreal team.
