Doha: The Qatari Ministry of Economy and Commerce has recalled six Ikea chocolate products and advised people allergic to almonds and hazelnuts to avoid eating them.
The Swedish mother company has already announced that it recalled its products in Canada and the UK, following complaints that customers were not warned that they contain nuts.
The ministry cited Choklad Lingon & Bladar 180g (chocolate with lingon/blueberry flavor); choklad Ljus Utz 100g (milk chocolate bar); Choklad Not Utz 100g (milk chocolate bar with hazelnut); Godis Chokladkrokant 450g (milk chocolate with butterscotch); Godis Chokladran 168g (chocolate filled wafers); and Chokladkrokant Bredbar 400g (chocolate butterscotch spread).
The ministry said that that the withdrawal of the chocolate products was coordinated with Hamad and Mohamad Al-Futtaim Co, urging allergic customers who purchased the products to contact the company for a refund.
