GDN Online Desk

Riyadh: A hoax bomb delayed a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight by half an hour. The flight was heading from Cairo International Airport to Riyadh.

The plane was preparing to take off when a passenger claimed that he was carrying a bomb in his luggage, which sparked panic among other passengers.

The plane which was delayed by 30 minutes was evacuated and searched but no bomb was found in the luggage, reported local Arabic daily Al-Madinah.

The Cairo airport security authorities gave the green light to the Saudi plane to take off and head to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The passenger who claimed that he was just kidding was referred to the Public Prosecution in Cairo to face charges of hoax bomb and exposing a means of transport to danger.
