Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) were crowned as champions of the fifth Ramadan Football Championship for Officers, organised by the Royal Artillery.
In the final, held at the Royal Artillery Stadium, the Air Force team defeated BDF Royal Shields 5-3.
The tournament was held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who honoured the winners and runners-up. He also honoured the championship’s Best Player, Top Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.
Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) units, directorates, the Bahrain Football Association, former Bahrain national football team players and Bahraini celebrities were also honoured for their contributions to the success of the championship, while the Royal Artillery Commander presented Shaikh Mohammed with a commemorative souvenir.
During the half-time, an exhibition match was held between former Bahrain national football team players and Bahraini celebrities.
Shaikh Mohammed expressed his delight in the success of the championship, and noted the fierce competition witnessed between the participating teams.
He commended the BDF for supporting such sporting activities, and the efforts of the Royal Artillery in organising the fifth edition of the championship.
Shaikh Mohammed also congratulated the winning teams and players in the tournament, and wished them success in future events.
RBAF Commander Major General Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Royal Artillery Commander Major General Shaikh Khalifa bin Hassan Al Khalifa, Bahrain Football Association president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and a number of senior BDF officers also attended the closing ceremony.
