Muscat: Public schools in Oman reopened on Sunday for new session.
The number of students increased by 32,922 this year to reach 572,990 in 1,103 schools across the Sultanate of Oman.
According to updated statistics, the number of male students soared to 290,219, while the number of female students stands at 282,771.
The school staff working with the Ministry of Education includes 56,607 teachers and 11,612 administrative and technical employees, reported local Arabic daily Oman.
In a statement marking the new school year, Education Minister Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shibaniya, said that 1,700 new teachers have been appointed this year.
