Bahrain’s Edidiong Odiong won the gold medal in women’s 100 metres at the fifth Islamic Solidarity Games being held in Konya, Turkiye.
Odiong finished in 11.03 seconds, ahead of Iran’s Farzaneh Fasihi and Ivory Coast’s Maboundou Kone.
Bahrain also won a silver medal yesterday when Aminat Jamal finished second in the women’s 400m hurdles final with a time of 56.41 seconds.
Odiong’s achievement has taken Bahrain’s gold medal tally to two after Birhanu Balew triumphed in men’s 5,000m on Monday. The other medal winners on Monday were Bontu Rebitu, who clinched silver medal in women’s 10,000m, Ruth Jebet, who claimed bronze in the same event, and Abdulrahman Alsayed, who won bronze in men’s shot put.
