During Argentina’s Copa America quarterfinal against the Colombians, ace footballer Lionel Messi was not only the target of the rival players, but the fans too.
In a bid to throw Messi off his game, supporters in Vina del Mar, kept directing a green laser beam at the talisman’s face.
Messi is not new to laser pens. On many occasions the star footballer has faced a similar situation. And like most times, the antic could not prove of any help.
Lionel Messi played full 90 minutes and managed to lead his side to the semi-finals of the Copa America.
In March 2013, UEFA issued a statement regarding the use of laser pens inside stadiums following a number of high-profile incidents.
A spokesman said: 'It's very clear, they're not allowed and we don't want to see them. It's common for us to open disciplinary cases for lasers.
'It depends on what other incidents happen during the game, we put them all together, but a wide range of measures can be taken.
'It's up to the club and the police to control what fans bring into the stadium, but the club are responsible for the behaviour of their fans during matches.'
