Switzerland claimed the World Fencing Junior Championship title after defeating Egypt 39-22 in the final held last night at the Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.
The championship, which was by the Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, was concluded yesterday with all 14 countries taking part in the teams competition.
Third place went to Belgium, with Saudi Arabia placing fourth, and Denmark coming in fifth, while Bahrain finished sixth.
The closing day saw the presence of the Royal Equestrian and Horse Racing Association President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, who presented the prizes to the top winners after the end of the competitions.
Shaikh Faisal expressed his appreciation to the Bahrain Fencing Association for their efforts in organising the tournament, which proves Bahrain’s ability in hosting various international events.
He thanked all Bahrain Fencing Association members headed by Shaikh Ibrahim bin Salman Al Khalifa for their great work to make the event successful.
