Fresh leaked images of the iPhone 6S metal chassis revealed no big surprises. The photos spotted by 9to5Mac show that the S phone, expected to be released in September this year, looks identical to its predecessor, highlighting Apple's policy of every-other-year only programme for redesigns.
Right down to the holes for the camera, microphone and LED flash, the back of the device looks unchanged. This means that the previously reported dual-camera system isn't going to make an appearance and would most likely be present only for the iPhone 7.
The speaker grill has the same six holes, along with the same locations for the headphone and lightning ports, highlighting that any major upgrade is going to be for the internal hardware.
The inside of the frame, meanwhile, reveals changes to the mounting points for a new logic board and components though it is too early to say as specific improvements haven't been revealed yet.
Looking at the metal chassis alone, it would be impossible to know upgrades Apple has in store but history has taught that us that there would be a few.
Rumours are ripe that the phone would have a full HD 1080p (1920x1080) display as well as a revamped 12 megapixel camera. The iPhone 6S is also expected to sport the same Force Touch function that is on the Apple Watch.
If speculations are correct, the iPhone 6S will still be a significant upgrade this year considering the major changes brought about by its predecessor last year.
