ABDULLA Buhindi and Khalid Al Saie were the stars of the second round of the SWS Bahrain Championship held at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
Buhindi won Race One while Al Saie followed by claiming Race Two. Both drivers also claimed a podium in their ‘non-victories’ to cap an impressive showing among a highly competitive field of racers.
The meeting was organised by BIKC in cooperation with Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and Bahrain Motor Federation.
Racing was held along BIKC’s 1.414km CIK Track.
BIC circuit operations director Fayez Ramzy Fayez presented the winners their trophies.
Buhindi secured the pole spot for race one clocking a fastest lap of 1min 13.682secs during qualifying.
Buhindi made the most of his leading grid position in Race One, completing the 11-lap sprint in 13mins 41.485secs. He finished narrowly ahead of Al Saie, who started from third but managed to wrest the runner-up spot and finish just 1.175secs behind.
Ali Abdulla finished third, 1.560secs back, while Ahmed Ebrahim was fourth, 1.854secs from first.
Mohammed Mattar (+6.658secs) was fifth, Younes El Ouair (+9.56secs) sixth, Khalid Al Wazzan (+9.654secs) seventh and Hussein Lala (+10.433secs) eighth.
Mattar registered the fastest lap of 1min 13.616secs.
In Race Two, Al Saie took the chequered flag in 13mins 35.918secs.
Buhindi followed 2.215secs behind, while Mattar was third, 5.860secs back.
Abdulla (+6.993secs), Ebrahim (+11.016secs), Al Wazzan (+15.967secs), El Ouair (+17.814secs) and Osama Al Buflasa (+18.230secs) rounded out the top eight.
Mattar once again clocked the fastest lap of 1min 13.149secs.
Following the second round of action, Buhindi and Abdulla moved into a tie for first place with 74 points apiece. Mattar follows in third place with 72 points.
Al Saie is not far behind with 68 points, while Ebrahim is a distant fifth with 39 points.
The season will resume after the summer break and continue until next year.
