Muharraq face a ‘must-win’ clash tonight against tough Tunisian opposition to secure a chance of playing against Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi side Al Nassr in a top regional competition.
The second leg and last qualifier for the 2023 King Salman Club Cup against Union Sportive Monastirienne kicks off at 7pm at Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium.
Monastir come to Bahrain with a 2-0 advantage having secured victory in front of their fans who had packed the 20,000-seater Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet stadium in the first leg.
Muharraq will need to pull out all the stops to progress on aggregate.
The winners may also see themselves playing against ’Egyptian giants Zamalek and Saudi giants Al Shabab in the competition’s group stage taking place from July 15 to August 5.
