Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa met Bahrain’s fighter and Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) Team member Abdulla Seena who was knocked out of the Second International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Championship for Amateurs after losing to Kazakhstan’s Nur Tilek Konashov.
Seena lost his first match in the championship, being held in Las Vegas, after just two and a half minutes into the first round.
Shaikh Khalid met Seena after the match and stressed that the aim of participation in the event was to gain more experience in such international events and to develop the team’s fighting abilities in the upcoming competitions. Wishing Seena success in future events, Shaikh Nasser hailed Bahraini fighters’ urge to excel and pointed out that this event was a good experience for them.
Seena, who has specialised in Jiu Jitsu sport, said he did not expect to face an Olympic fighter specialised in mixed martial arts. He said this tournament was his first ever competition in mixed martial arts.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s other fighter Ali Ibrahimi will take on Austrian fighter Grad Bogdan in the 70kg category. Ibrahimi got a first-round bye while Bogdan defeated French fighter Gilliam Ballito in the opening round.
