Phillip Island: New world champion Marc Marquez posted the quickest lap time in the warm-up ahead of Sunday's Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.
The Spanish Repsol Honda rider clocked a best time of one minute 29.897 seconds, indicating his bike was in good shape ahead of the race.
Marquez was 0.090secs quicker than nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, who improved the set-up of his Movistar Yamaha bike on race day.
Spanish Suzuki racer Maverick Vinales was third fastest, 0.162secs down on Marquez's time.
British LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow, who is starting off the front row of the race grid, was fourth quickest with 0.372secs behind Marquez.
Jorge Lorenzo improved his Movistar Yamaha bike's performance to be fifth fastest as he bids with team-mate Rossi to finish runner-up in this year's championship.
Marquez, who at 23 became the youngest rider to win three premier-class world championship titles with victory last week in Japan, holds an unassailable 77-point lead in the standings with three races left.
