Former Kuwaiti MP denied bid to run in elections

Kuwait: Former Kuwaiti MP Abdulhamid Dashti has failed in his bid to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The electoral affairs directorate rejected his candidacy application which was submitted on his behalf, by his son Talal Dashti.

Talal announced that he would file an urgent lawsuit with the Administrative Court on behalf of his father who is currently abroad.

The former MP was convicted and sentenced in absentia to 31 years in jail for defaming Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and in connection with other cases.
