Doha: The Organizing Committee of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has launched an inquiry into the death of a worker at the Al Wakrah Stadium, a project designed by late Iraqi-born British architect Zaha Hadid.
This is the first time that the Qatari authorities have announced a work-related fatality at the site of the 2022 World Cup stadium.
"It is with deep regret that we announce the death of a worker in one of our projects," a spokesperson for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said in a statement, announcing a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the fatal accident.
