Abu Dhabi: An Emirati woman gave birth to a rare type of quadruplets after a 31-week pregnancy in Abu Dhabi.

The mom was admitted to the Danat Al-Emarat Children, Women and Maternity hospital where she gave birth to three boys and one girl. The babies weighed 1,200 grams, 1,450 grams, 1,460 grams and 1,310 grams st the time of the delivery.

"We have chosen to name the babies Khalifa, Mohammed, Hamdan and Fatima", said the happy father who distributed 200 flowers to the medical, technical and administrative personnel.

A medical team of specialized women doctors conducted the cesarean section surgical incision, in the presence of four neonatologists to take care of the premature newborn babies.

United Eastern Medical Services Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi said that the successful C-section reflects the high standard of the hospital and the competence of the medical and technical staff.
