Abu Dhabi: A group of students involved in an exam leak will all have to repeat their exams.
The Ministry of Education announced the punitive measure, based on results of an inquiry into the mid-semester exams leak.
The teachers-in-charge of supervising the exams will also face legal action for allowing students to keep their mobile phones with them while sitting their tests.
The ministry announced that students’ parents would be summoned to be notified about their children’s cheating in the official exams and be made to sign an undertaking.
The Education Minister set up a fact-finding team to conduct a thorough investigation and identify the lawbreakers to face legal charges.
Government and private school students set up a group on the Telegram messaging application and circulated the exam questions along with their answers.
The exchanges showed that students involved in the leak started circulating the questions and answers at 8.58 AM, an hour before entering their classes to sit the 45-minute exams.
The ministry has decided to send the exam papers to different schools at 8am, instead 6am during the first two days as a preventive measure.
The mid-semester exams which include students from grades 4 to 12, began last Sunday and will continue till October 30.
