Watford: A scrappy own goal settled a scrappy game as Stoke won 1-0 at Watford in the Premier League on Sunday.
Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes put the ball in his own net in the 29th minute after a header from Charlie Adam came back off the post and cannoned in off his legs.
Despite Stoke being depleted by injuries to Ryan Shawcross and Glenn Whelan as well as a suspension for Joe Allen, the patched-up side was still too much for lethargic Watford.
Watford finished with 10 men after a late red card for Miguel Britos as it slipped to a first home defeat since August. The defender was shown a second yellow card in the 90th minute for tugging back Xherdan Shaqiri.
Watford climbed above Stoke into eighth place, two places and two points above the hosts.
