These two types of phrases ‘fat burning zone' and 'cardio zone' have become very popular.
These buzz words have led to the theory that if you want to burn more fat you must exercise at low intensities which is cannot entirely be termed as a myth.
However, it is important to determine the amount of calories burned compared to amount of fat utilised during your workout.
What is the truth?
The intensity of your exercise is directly related to the amount of calories you burn and fat in your body is the main fuel during lower intensity exercise.
60 per cent of the calories burned come from fat and this fact was the reason behind the term 'fat burning zone'.
But if you are looking at overall fat loss the most important factor is the difference between the numbers of calories you spend as to number of calories you eat.
These exercises are designed to keep your heart rate within the target range. The target heart rate ranges from 50 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate.
So while you exercise in the fat burning zone the heart rate does not exceed 70 per cent.
For cardio exercise the intensity must increase which results in elevated heart rate.
