Riyadh: Three Saudi nationals were sentenced to a combined 34 years in jail for threatening to behead the prison guards.
The defendants who were found guilty of defaming the criminal investigation officers, discrediting the judicial authority and accusing the witnesses of bribery were respectively sentenced to a combined 34 years in prison.
The Criminal Court also banned them from travelling abroad for the same durations on serving their jail terms.
Inquiry revealed that the convicts pledged alliance to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) leaders and made several attempts to leave Saudi Arabia and join terrorist groups abroad.
