Doha: Eleven women were handed down fines ranging from QR3000 to QR10,000 for fighting during a wedding ceremony.
The women were attending the wedding of a relative when the brawl erupted between them, creating an atmosphere of chaos at the ceremony.
The altercation began when one woman accidentally hit another woman in the eye as she was waving her dress as part of the celebrations.
The two women then started insulting each other despite the bridegroom’s desperate attempts to calm then down and end the dispute.
The situation spiralled out of control when 9 other women joined the fight. They traded insults and called each other names before coming to blows, turning the dance floor into a battlefield.
They were charged with verbal abuse and physical aggression and referred to the Criminal Court.
The woman who 'mistakenly' hit the lady and ignited the fight was fined QR3,000 while the other ten will have to pay QR10,000 each.
