TWENTY Brave Two: Dynasty fighters were weighed-in last night before confirming their participation in the fight.
The weigh-in, at Orange Suit Hotel in Juffair, was held in the presence of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association (BMMAA) Honorary President and Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) Organisation Founder Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The fighters will be seen in action at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town today, kicking off the second Brave event in Bahrain at 6pm.
The first Brave event took place in September with Abdulkareem Al Selwady from Jordan winning the main fight against Iraq’s Rami Aziz who submitted in the first round.
The main event on the fight card today is Russia’s Gadzhimusa Gaziev, who holds a record of 7-1, facing English MMA Fighter, Carl ‘The Bomber’ Booth with a 6-1 record.
The stare down between the two fighters however came off with a bit of a friendly attitude as both fighters displayed a confident smile.
However, this was not the case with Argentina’s Kevin ‘El General’ Koldobsky (6-3) and Ottman Azaitar (6-0) fighting out of Germany.
Koldobsky, who participated in Brave One losing to Russian Eldar Eldarov by unanimous decision, promised spectators to put on a show in defeating Azaitar.
“I want to thank everyone who is here and I want to let them know that they will enjoy my fight, I’m sorry that my opponent has to lose,” the Argentinian said.
Azaitar, however, replied in a very calm manner when asked what he expected would happen during the fight.
“The spectators will see what will happen tomorrow and they will judge, I trust in God and I’ve trained very hard for this,” Azaitar said, while raising his hands to the sky.
Bahrain’s Hamza Al Kooheji (4-1), who will come up against Philippines’ Jeremy Pacatiw (5-0), received a huge round of applause and cheering as he went up on the weighing scale.
Al Kooheji had his first fight in Bahrain at Brave One defeating Mohammed Mashaly with a North South Choke.
However, Brave CEO had earlier expressed his doubts about how Al Kooheji would feel as Bahrain includes a big Philipino community who could be enough to make Al Kooheji feel he is playing away from home.
Al Kooheji was keen to highlight that Bahrain is his home and fighting here, no matter the opponent, will always be something big for him.
“Bahrain will always be the best place to fight for me. I am not worried about the supporters. If all my friends show up, they’d me more than the Philipino community here,” he said.
He added that his goal was to stay in Brave Combat Federation as long as possible.
“I love Brave Combat Federation and I am proud to be here. My long-term goal is to obviously be the first Bahraini to win the belt,” Al Kooheji said.
