Fifteen people were convicted of treason and sentenced to death for spying for Iran.
The convicts were part of a 32-member spying cell, which included 30 Saudi nationals, one Iranian and one Afghan.
The Criminal Court found them guilty of spying for the Tehran regime, collaborating with Iranian intelligence agents and supplying them with confidential information about Saudi national and military security.
Fifteen other members of the cell were convicted and sentenced from 6 months to 25 years in prison and banned from travelling abroad, while two defendants were acquitted.
The trial was attended by the convicts’ families and representatives of human rights watchdogs and the media.
