An inquiry was launched into the death of an Emirati student who was killed in the state of Ohio in the US.
UAE Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry Undersecretary Mohammed Mir Abdullah Al Raisi confirmed that authorities are following up on the death of Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri.
In a statement posted on the UAE news agency (WAM), he added that the ministry would issue a full statement as soon as details of the circumstances of the student’s death become available.
Meanwhile, reports say that the 26-year-old Alameri, a Case Western Reserve University student, was shot and killed during a struggle with a Hudson area police officer.
He reportedly died of a of a gunshot wound to the head last Sunday near an access road off Hudson Aurora Road.
A University spokesman said that the Emirati national had been living in Cleveland and was a student at Case Western.
