The new-looking Saudi currency will be unveiled on Tuesday (December 13) at the headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) in Riyadh.
The monetary regulator has invited members of the media to attend the launch ceremony.
The invitations were printed on samples of newly-designed banknotes, featuring inscriptions and geometric shapes, in addition to the SAMA logo.
SAMA officials are expected to announce the date on which the new paper and metallic currency will come into circulation.
However, well-informed sources said that the new currency will likely come into circulation by the New Year, or a few days before.
The new banknotes with bear the expansion of Mecca Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s mosque in the Medina, in addition to other major development milestones and archaeological monuments reflecting strides in Saudi's development.
