Doha: A reckless teenage driver, who caused the death of five Filipinos and left others injured, has been jailed for three years.
The 18-year-old driver lost control of his car causing it to smash into a car that was parked on the airport highway.
The teenager escaped with injuries and burns while the Filipinos who were inside the parked car burned to death.
The convict has been also QR1000 for driving without a licence and exceeding the speed limit, and has been ordered to pay QR200,000 in blood money to each of the five victims' families.
A police inquiry showed that the convict was driving at a speed exceeding 10 km/hour in a zone where the maximum speed is 60 km/hour.
