The UAE has sent a criminal investigation team to the US to take part in an inquiry into the death of an Emirati student who was killed in the state of Ohio.
The Abu Dhabi General Directorate of Police coordinated the move with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
UAE Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry Undersecretary Mohammed Mir Abdullah Al Raisi confirmed that authorities are following up on the death of Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri.
Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri, a Case Western Reserve University student, was shot and killed during a struggle with a Hudson area police officer.
He reportedly died of a of a gunshot wound to the head last Sunday near an access road off the Hudson Aurora Road.
Meanwhile, the body of 26-year-old Alameri is expected to be repatriated this evening via Abu Dhabi International Airport.
He will be buried tomorrow at the Bani Yas cemetery after performing the funeral prayer at Al-Rawashid Mosque after Friday prayers.
