Kuwait: A police inquiry was launched in Kuwait, into forged documents bearing the seals of countries which are purveyors of migrants.
The Interior and Foreign Affairs ministries have joined efforts to probe dozens of suspected fake documents.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs receives an average of twenty suspected documents weekly.
An anti-counterfeiting official at the Criminal Investigation Directorate said that most of the forgeries point to three countries which are “major purveyors of manpower to the GCC countries”.
“The documents which bear the seals of embassies are professionally forged”, the source said, adding that most of the suspected cases consist of fake academic degrees, health certificates, judicial records and certificates of experience.
Initial inquiry revealed that most of the holders of fake documents are in fact victims of counterfeiting networks that facilitate their trips to Kuwait and other GCC countries in exchange for money.
