ABDULRAHMAN Yaqoob scored five goals to lead Budaiya Club to a 10-5 win over Zallaq Youth Centre in the second Group ‘B’ match of the National Day Beach Soccer Tournament.
The tournament, under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of the Crown Prince, is being played at the beach soccer ground behind the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) headquarters in Riffa.
Also on the scoresheet for Budaiya Club were Hatem Ateeq, Hesham Yousef, Essa Mohammed, Khalil Mohamed and Mohammed Rashed, who scored one goal each.
Ahmed Mohammed scored twice for Zallaq Youth Centre while Rashid Bikhet, Mohamed Ahmed and Saleh Ahmed scored one each.
Also in Group ‘B’, Karzakan Youth Center registered a 4-1 victory over Hesab Al Hakam, who now stand no chance at the competition.
Ahmed Al Khayat and Reda Al Abbas scored twice each for Karzakan Youth Center while Ahmed Anood scored Hesab Al Hakam’s only goal of the night.
Budaiya Club and Karzakan Youth Center top the table in Group B with six points each from two games, guaranteeing them qualification for the semifinals. Zallaq Youth Centre and Hesab Al Hakam sit in third and fourth places with no points.
In Group ‘A’, Saar Club managed to come back from a 2-0 scoreline to defeat BBK 4-2.
BBK took the lead through Abdulla Abdulatif and Mohammed Rashed, who scored one goal each for their team. However, a super hattrick (four goals) from Salman Salim gave Saar Club the three points of the game.
Buri Club and Malkiya went face to face with the latter managing a 5-2 win.
Zuhair Darwish, Hassan Abbas, Ahmed Essa and Ibrahim Ali scored one goal each for Malkiya Club with their fifth being an own goal from a Buri player.
Both Sayed Ahmed and Sayed Abdulla also got on the score sheet for Buri scoring once each.
Group ‘A’ standings sees Saar Club in first place with six points from two games, followed by Malkiya Club and Buri Club who sit in second place with three points each from two games. BBK are in fourth place with no points and have lost out on any qualification chances.
The final list of fixtures for the group stages will take place today, with Saar Club facing Buri Club at 5pm and BBK coming up against Malkiya at 6pm concluding Group ‘A’ matches.
Group ‘B’ matches will start at 7pm with Karzakan Youth Centre facing Budaiya to decide who will finish in first place, while Hesab Al Hakam and Zallaq Youth Centre will go head to head at 7pm.
