Cairo: A senior Egyptian government official was remanded in custody for four days pending investigation into a multi-million corruption case.
State Council purchase director-general Jamaluddin Mohammed Ibrahim Allaban, is accused of receiving millions in bribes.

The police raided his house and seized 24 million Egyptian pounds, $4 million, 2 million euros, and SR1 million, in addition to jewellery and gifts.
Two other suspects have also been remanded in prison in connection with the same case.
The police have also reportedly seized many cars and real estate properties registered under Allaban’s name.
