BAHRAIN Basketball Association (BBA) President Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa announced that the Cup competition for the 2016/2017 season will be renamed after His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The announcement was made at a press conference held by Shaikh Isa at the Ritz Carlton hotel yesterday in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Hisham Al Jowder, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar and BBA board members.
Prizes for the two finalists were also announced. The winners get BD10,000 while the runners-up will receive BD5,000.
Shaikh Isa also announced a small change to the format. The final will be over three matches with the winners of two games being crowned champions. The semifinals will also see teams play three games.
The final games venues is yet to be decided between the Basketball hall at the Shaikh Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town and the Basketball Association’s Hall in Um Al Hassam.
