A Gulf national who killed his mother was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay AED200,000 in blood money to the heirs.
Police investigation revealed that the convict killed the woman by slitting her throat. He reportedly continued living with the body for 10 days until it began decomposing and the crime was finally discovered.
The killer’s three brothers renounced the retribution and dropped any claims to the blood money.
The convict confessed to murdering his fifty-year-old mother last June.
His lawyer urged the court to acquit his client based on the report of the psychiatrist who examined the convict at Al-Amal hospital in Dubai and concluded that he suffers from a psychotic disorder.
