Muharraq defeated defending champions Manama 84-78 in the Khalifa bin Salman Basketball Cup Tournament first semi-final of the best of three series played at Khalifa Sports City Hall last night.
The match, which was held at Khalifa Sports City Hall for the first time, which saw a large number of fans including families and kids of all ages.
Manama need to win the second match to force the third and final clash.
The quarters scores were 18-16 (Manama), 26-15 (Muharraq), 27-13 (Manama) and 29-18 (Muharraq).
Muharraq’s top scorers were Ahmed Hassan Al Derazi with 24 points, Kadeem Colby of Bahamas with 19 points, Bader Abdulla with 12 points and Mohammed Nasser with 10 points. Manama’s attack was led by Nikoloz of Georgia with 27 points along with Mohammed Kuwayed (19) and Mohammed Qurban (15).
The match was witnessed by Bahrain Basketball Association President Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, along with US Ambassador William Roebuck and other officials.
