Saudi authorities will enforce a clampdown on vandals who wreak havoc on public parks.

Under a royal decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, those convicted of vandalizing public parks could be sentenced to two years in prison and/or fined up to SR200,000.

The tough penalties would also apply to anyone who assists the main convict in destroying any extensions, amenities or other facilities at the public park.

A copy of the court verdict shall also be published, at the expense of the convict, in a local newspaper, either in his hometown or any neighouring city where such a newspaper is available.
