Saudi police bust four terror cells, 18 terrorists arrested

Saudi security forces busted four terrorist cells in the cities of Mecca, Medina, Riyadh and Al-Qasim.

Police squads conducted pre-emptive raids and arrested 15 Saudis, two Yemenis and one Sudanese national, the Ministry of Interior announced on its Twitter account.

They are allegedly accused of sheltering other fugitives who are wanted in connection with terrorist cases, including Taye’a bin Salim Al-Saiari, Khalid Ghazi Al-Sarwani, and Nadi Marzooq Al-Medhyani Enzi.

The underground cells were conducting subversive activities and informing the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) about selected targets inside Saudi Arabia.

The detainees are also accused of promoting extremist ISIS idealogy on social media websites, recruiting fighters and inciting them to fight in the the conflict zones, in addition to collecting funds for the terrorist organization.

The Saudi police also seized automatic firearms, knives and daggers and more than SR2 million from the cells.
