Sharjah:  A Bahraini citizen was killed in a traffic accident in Sharjah.

The man suffered severe injuries when he lost control of his motorbike and rammed into a billboard on Maliha Highway, reports Albayan.

The 48-year-old Bahraini citizen, only known by his initials M.M.J, was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The traffic directorate in Sharjah recently decreased the speed on Maliha Highway, from Budaiya Causeway to Shaikh Khalifa Highway, from 120 kilometres to 100 kilometres in a bid to tackle fatal accidents and promote road safety.
