Al Masaood Group, an industrial conglomerate based in the UAE, has announced the opening of the largest boat services and maintenance centre of its kind in the Middle East at Industrial City of Abu Dhabi - II (ICAD-II).
A 10-sq-km-long mixed industrial estate, ICAD II is part of ZonesCorp, the largest developer and operator of purpose-built industrial zones in the UAE, that boasts a building materials cluster as well as a dedicated oil and gas industrial services complex.
The boat centre is situated on a 26,000 sq m plot is supervised by a highly-qualified team of experts, providing the full range of services relating to the maintenance of boats, said a statement from the company.
The facility which was set up at an estimated cost of Dh100 million ($27.2 million) has the latest equipment and tools and operates in-line with the highest international service standards of maintenance, it stated.
The 24/7 centre’s services include: custom outfits, testing, general maintenance, repairs, instillations, overhauls, training, certifications, project planning and management of energy and propulsion systems.
Speaking at the launch, Saeed Eisa Al Khyeli, the director general of ZonesCorp, said: "We are very happy to see this project move forward, every time one of our partners in the private sector takes a step forward with a project such as this, it is a step forward for the wider economy in the emirate of Abu Dhabi."
Al Khyeli was speaking in the presence of Falah Al Ahbabi, the chairman of ZonesCorp.
Lauding Al Masaood Group on the new facility, he said it is the largest workshop for engine maintenance in the Middle East and includes the maintenance of German (battle) tanks engines.
Group chairman Abdulla Al Masaood said the new boat service unit will play a major role in supporting Abu Dhabi's economy by providing numerous job opportunities and attracting internationally qualified experts into the local market.
This is the latest achievement in a long list of ground breaking achievements for the company, he added.
Since its inception ZonesCorp has played a key role in developing the industrial sector in the UAE and Abu Dhabi in particular.
