THE organising committee of the fourth School Mini Olympics, due to take place in April, has approved an all-new medal design for this year’s event.
The fourth edition of the Mini Olympics, organised by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, will involve schools from across the kingdom.
The second preparatory meeting of the organising committee, chaired by Lounes Madene, was held at the Bahrain Olympic Committee premises in Seef.
Madene revealed the design of the gold, silver and bronze medals for the upcoming edition of the Mini Olympics.
The new medals will show the logo of the School Mini Olympics as well as the torch and the Bahrain Olympic Committee theme.
Madene noted the outstanding number of entries for this year’s event, which was a record compared with the previous editions of School Mini Olympics.
Open to private and government schools, the 2017 School Mini Olympics will see participants compete in various sports events, including table tennis, athletics, aquathlon, triathlon, volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, swimming and jiu jitsu.
The School Mini Olympics aims to promote the concept of public health and creation of a competitive sports environment among students.
It also seeks to promote the principles of Olympic values and ideals as well as to motivate young athletes to take up sports activities and follow a healthy life style.
