HAMAD Abdul Aal yesterday claimed the under-18 boys title in the 22nd BBK Juniors Open Tennis Championship at Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair, defeating Yousef Ashraf 6-4, 6-0.
Hamad defeated Rico Cifra in the semi-final 5-7, 6-4, 10-5. Before that he had earned a walkover from Salmon Fredie.
Yousef defeated Avneet Singh in the first round 6-1, 6-2 before seeing off Hassan Al Qattan in the semi-final 6-4, 6-4.
The under-14 girls final was won by Sophie de Boer who defeated Maya Bseisu 6-3, 7-6.
The under-10 unisex title was claimed by Tristan Manners who defeated Rushikesh Sonawane 6-0 while Riyaan Ahmed won the under-eight unisex crown with a 4-0 win over Joshua Jacob.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Majesty the King’s advisor for youth and sports affairs Saleh bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai, Chief Executive of BBK Reyadh Sater and president of BTC Khamis Al Muqla.
