BAHRAIN clinched 15 medals at the first edition of the West Asian Paralympic Games in the UAE.
The rich haul included five gold, three silver and seven bronze.
The team was given a special welcome on their return yesterday by high-ranking sports officials from Bahrain Olympic Committee and Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy secretary-general, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa along with Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities president Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa and other senior sports officials congratulated members of the team on their arrival at Bahrain International Airport.
Shaikha Hayat congratulated the team while Shaikh Mohammed said it was a first-of-its-kind achievement.
