ALGERIAN Elias Boudegzdame will be carrying the pride of a nation when he battles for the featherweight belt in Brave 4: Unstoppable scheduled for March 31 in Abu Dhabi.
The Algerian will be representing Brave Combat Federation (BCF), the biggest Middle Eastern MMA platform, founded under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
“Brave gave me the key to the house, it’s up to me to make use of it. I will take this opportunity and show that I am champion material. You will see a real Algerian in the cage, Arab fans know what that means,” said Boudegzdame.
Boudegzdame will take on former UFC fighter Masio Fullen in what will be BCF’s first visit to Abu Dhabi and its first world championship title fight.
“Masio has competed in the UFC and I respect that. For me, no matter where my opponent has been, I will take him seriously. He made a good debut with Brave, finishing his opponent in the first round, but that doesn’t intimidate me at all. One thing I learned in MMA, not to judge a fighter by his record, and as the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover,” added Boudegzdame.
According to Boudegzdame, fighting in front of an Arab crowd gives him a great sense of purpose and motivation to perform at his best.
“I am blessed with a great coach, who is my brother Amin. He makes sure I’m ready for anything, and my training partners are always there to help.
“We don’t have a game plan, this is not a game. I train tough and hard and once in the cage, my natural instinct takes over and does the job,” concluded Boudegzdame.
Meanwhile, Brave president Mohammed Shahid is all praise for Boudegzdame.
“When Boudegzdame was set to face Watson at Brave 2, I had no idea he would be able to make such a huge impact. He finished Watson in style. This young Arab talent will go far in the promotion, I have no doubt about that,” said Shahid.
