“Vocally I was younger and a little more innocent sounding.
“The first and second record which I did under the guise of Sony was the most commercial that I made.
“The third was when I went independent, so it was more of a deeper, darker sound and that’s when I became more influenced by the blues, rock and heavier rock and old school classics.”
Most recently, Ms Thom made an album called Ghosts which she self-produced.
“I made it while I was pregnant, so that was a challenge and it’s got a really interesting sound to it,” she said.
Ms Thom already has dates in the diary for gigs in Dubai and Doha in May, as well as a two-week tour in October of the UK and a week in Australia in November.
“This is me coming back if you like,” she said.
“My son is a year old and this is me coming back after a year of playing mummy and getting back to work.”
