AN American historical drama called Loving comes to the screens at Bahrain Cinema Club tonight at 7pm.
Loving celebrates the real life courage and commitment of an interracial couple called Richard and Mildred Loving.
The couple were the plaintiffs in the 1967 US Supreme Court decision Loving versus Virginia, which invalidated state laws prohibiting interracial marriage.
Following their marriage, the couple spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown.
Their civil rights case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – and their love story has become an inspiration for couples ever since.
Directed by Jeff Nichols, Loving was nominated for the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
It was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress and received two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor and Best Actress. Call 39682323 for further information.
