The authorities in Saudi Arabia managed to foil several attempts to plant land mines, smuggle arms and ammunition, as well as half a kilo of hashish at the southern border, according to SPA.
A border guard unit thwarted the operations and arrested 30 culprits, a Saudi Interior Ministry security spokesman announced.
Those arrested include 19 Ethiopians, seven Yemenis, three Saudis and an unidentified smuggler.
According to latest statistics, the Saudi security agencies have arrested 1,265 infiltrators, including 847 Yemenis, 309 Ethiopians and 16 Somalis.
“Three of them were killed, two others were injured, eight land mines seized, while 23 different weapons, 32,160 bullets and 607 kilos of hashish have been confiscated”, the spokesman said.
