The Saudi aviation authorities will start banning passengers heading to the United States from carrying electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets in their cabin baggage, according to Al Riyadh newspaper.
Under strict new measures, which will take effect within three days, passengers are required to keep their cellphones and iPads in their luggage, in compliance with US instructions.
The Civil Aviation Authority has directed all airline companies operating from Saudi airports to enforce the new procedures strictly on US-bound flights to spare passengers any legal hassles at US airports.
