The second phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park was inaugurated at Seih Al Dahal in Dubai, according to WAM.
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum opened the green energy facility in the presence of senior officials.
The Dhs1.5 billion solar plant generates 200 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 50,000 households and reduce carbon emissions in Dubai by over 200,000 tones.
Shaikh Mohammed also toured an exhibition on the sidelines that displayed the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) projects and initiatives in the field of clean energy since 2011.
The Dubai Ruler congratulated DEWA staff and partners on the implementation of the Phase 2, which was achieved in a record time, and described the clean energy landmark as a national achievement for the UAE.
